Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center is named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – and provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single‑level facility features 200 single‑occupancy rooms across four nursing units.
Job Duties- 7 AM – 3:30 PM every weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
- 3 PM – 11:30 PM every weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
- 3 PM – 11:30 PM every Monday & Thursday
- 11 PM – 7:30 AM every weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
Certified Nurse Aides are expected to perform the following duties:
- Assist with meals and escort residents to the dining hall.
- Make rounds regularly, answer call lights promptly and respond courteously.
- Complete all required paperwork and computerized documentation for charting assessments.
- Provide each resident the necessary care in accordance with his/her plan of care and ADL record.
- Monitor and observe residents’ physical, mental, and emotional status and report changes to Charge Nurse.
- Current Virginia Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of personal care needs and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Physical ability to turn, bend, and lift non‑ambulatory adult patients without restrictions.
- Experience in a long‑term care or adult geriatric setting.
Applicants who possess an Interagency Placement Screening Form (Yellow Form) or a Preferential Hiring Form (Blue Form) issued under the Department of Human Resources Management (DHRM) Policy 1.30 Layoff (Commonwealth of Virginia Employees Only) must attach these forms when submitting their state application and/or resume.
