Position: RN House Supervisor (3p-11p/11p-7a)

Position Summary

The House Supervisor maintains nursing unit goals and objectives and is responsible for the supervision of nursing unit(s). The House Supervisor ensures compliance of nursing practices, procedures, systems, and processes with company policy as well as federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The House Supervisor coordinates programs and services under the direction and in consultation with the Director of Nursing (DON).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and management oversight to all nursing staff on all shifts.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies as well as all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Supervises the nursing department in the absence of the DON/ADON as directed.

  • Monitors staff compliance with assigned break times and patient care assignments.

  • Effectively collaborate with medical staff and other departments to coordinate all aspects of patient care.

  • Coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers; ensures appropriate documentation.

  • Conduct patient rounds and provide immediate feedback to assigned staff.

  • Initiates coaching/counseling and/or corrective action as necessary.

  • Review and investigate patient, family, and staff concerns; take action to resolve and prevent reoccurrence.

  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of quality nursing staff.

  • Reviews staffing at change of shift; assigns and replaces staff to meet patient care needs.

  • Ensure nursing unit operates with consideration to budget and cost controls; manage and reduce unnecessary waste and spending when possible.

  • Performs other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the healthcare center.

Physical Demands

Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally. Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • One year of nurse management / leadership experience preferred.

  • Active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.

  • Ability to lead diverse team of individuals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.

  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of current standards of nursing practice.

  • Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and applications.

  • Excellent customer service focus.
