Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is a family‑focused organization dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children. We are seeking a qualified Nurse Patient Navigator to join our team.
Responsibilities- Advocate, interpret, educate, and counsel a group of assigned patients and their caregivers.
- Manage the care of assigned patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality and comprehensive healthcare services.
- Serve as the single point of contact for patients and caregivers throughout the entire treatment process.
- Maintain continuous support for patients and caregivers during treatment.
- Apply clinical and nursing knowledge and skills to perform all job responsibilities.
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state; licensure must be maintained for employment.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Specialty Nursing certification in either Nurse Navigation or an area of specialty within one year of hire.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience in nursing, patient education, case management, and/or navigation.
- Previous experience in a specialty area is preferred.
- Previous nurse navigation or leadership experience is preferred.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing (required).
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing (preferred).
- Lift less than 20 pounds.
- Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, overhead reaching, and repetitive motion.
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem‑solving, hearing, clear speaking, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking.
- Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment, handle multiple priorities, intense customer interactions, a noisy environment, and frequent change.
- Primarily weekday work; may be required evenings or weekends depending on assignment.
- May be required to work at all VCUHS locations.
- Age‑specific groups served: as appropriate based on unit assignment.
