Neurosurgery Care Coor RN

The Neurosurgery Care Coordinator RN is responsible for a high level of expertise in the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological disorders requiring surgery. This role supports the flow of care across inpatient and outpatient systems and provides support under the full spectrum of care, from patient triage to care delivery. This position addresses the complex responses of individuals, families, or communities to actual or potential health problems, prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.

Neurosurgical nurse coordinators possess a greater depth and breadth of knowledge, a greater degree of synthesis of data, and complexity of skills and intervention.

Within regulated authority guidelines from state and federal agencies. Specialty role with specific goals.

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
• Current RN licensure in Virginia for continued employment.
• AHA/BLS/HCP certification or equivalent.

• Three (3) years experience as an RN in a specialty setting, such as Surgery or Neurology.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise for the patient population served.

• Previous experience with neurological diseases.
• Previous experience with clinical trials.
• Previous experience in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas.
• Advanced practitioner skills & judgment.

• Required:
  
  Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Preferred:
  Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Certification in specialty area.

• Clinical decision-making in collaboration with physicians and daily prioritization of activities.
• Allocation of time spent in patient care and elsewhere largely directed by physician staff.

• Physical:
  Lift 20-50 lbs. Prolonged sitting, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), repetitive motion.
• Emotional:
  Fast‑pace environment, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, able to adapt to frequent change.
