Licensed Practical Nurse; LPN - Stony Point Dermatology

Overview

The Dermatology Clinic at Stony Point cares for patients of all ages with conditions ranging from acne to transplant and skin cancer cases. The clinic offers phototherapy, blue‑light therapy, and Mohs surgery. All clinical staff—including RNs, LPNs, and CMAs—complete the Certified Dermatology Tech course and may work in the Mohs surgical area. Surgical nurses receive training in local anesthesia numbing, with plans to expand this training to other nursing staff.

• Assist the health‑care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
• Deliver and accurately document direct, age‑specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan of care.
• Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions.
• Follow documented physician or licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines for treatments and organization of work.

• Current LPN licensure in Virginia.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent.

• Required:
  
  Varies by transitional duty assignment.
• Preferred:
  Experience as an LPN in an acute care setting or in a related area of practice.

  Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing.

• Physical:
  Ability to lift 50–100 lbs.; frequent standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing stairs or ladders; reaching overhead and repetitive motions.
• Exposure:
  Potential contact with hazardous and infectious substances.
• Mental/Sensory:
  Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking.
• Emotional:
  Steady pace, ability to manage frequent and intense customer interactions, adapt to a noisy environment and frequent changes.
