Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate RN to deliver exceptional patient care in our radiation oncology unit. In this role you will provide care for patients receiving various forms of radiation therapy following a cancer diagnosis. What you will do in this role:
  • As a radiation oncology registered nurse you will provide care for patients receiving external beam radiation including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and internal radiation sources including high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, and low dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy.
  • You will educate patients and family members on radiation treatments and side effects for a wide variety of cancers including gynecological, skin, prostate, breast, brain, and other cancers.
  • Working closely with nurses, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, physicists, and radiation oncologists as well as a team of cancer experts and cancer resources from the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate and execute patient care plans related to radiation oncology care.
  • Utilizing computerized documentation systems, you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
  • When interacting with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness, and much more.
Qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
  • 1 year of oncology or radiation oncology nursing experience in a clinic and/or acute care hospital setting required.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
  • Current certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
