Assistant Director of Nursing (Healthcare)
Shift DetailsFull‑time, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (including Nursing Leadership on‑call rotation)
CompensationThe hiring range for this position is $50.45 to $68.86 per hour. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.
Responsibilities- Interview, hire, supervise, coach, evaluate, discipline and assist employees in setting and meeting performance goals.
- Develop and monitor performance of assigned staff while monitoring staffing patterns.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Parsons Health Center and its programs, ensuring compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, accreditation and reimbursement guidelines.
- Conduct and/or delegate assessment and reassessment of resident needs, including updating care plans and interpreting resident needs.
- Discuss resident care with respective family members, when appropriate.
- Use and adapt to new technologies—including tools, equipment, computerized systems and processes—to impact productivity of the department and services.
- Complete reports on resident incidents and injuries and respond to emergency calls from other departments when required.
- Inform the Director of Nursing of nursing activities, needs, issues and unusual events.
- Collaborate in quality assurance, process improvement and infection control to ensure high quality care for residents and families.
- Assist with developing the annual capital and operating budgets for the Parsons Health Center and analyze monthly statistical and budget variance reports.
- Work with the Director of Nursing to identify staffing needs of the Nursing Department to meet total nursing needs.
- Champion resident‑centered care and lead best‑practice initiatives.
- Maintain ongoing communication with residents, responsible parties, physicians and others as appropriate.
- Perform antibiotic stewardship duties as assigned.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Exposure to infection and odors.
- Considerable sitting, bending, standing and walking.
- Potential assembly and dismantling of medical equipment.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance; 26+ with manual or mechanical assistance.
- Strong clinical and assessment skills and knowledge of disease processes.
- Knowledge of reimbursement regulations, nursing practices and procedures, and laws, regulations and guidelines related to long‑term care administration.
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes, including root‑cause analysis, problem solving and development and implementation of action plans.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) keeping.
- Understanding of nosocomial infection definitions, chart review, sterilization and disinfection procedures, and basic microbiology and epidemiology principles.
- Ability to handle staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the public tactfully.
- Ability to interpret, communicate and implement policies, procedures, regulations, financial records and reports to staff, residents, families and government agencies.
- Decision‑making ability and independent judgment.
- Leadership and motivation skills to achieve desired results.
- Ability to work harmoniously with staff and maintain good personnel relations and morale.
