Description:
General unit information includes 24 beds. The unit has 71 staff members. Staff consists of day shift labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, secretaries, leadership, and educators, along with night shift labor nurses and nursery nurses. Patient ratios are typically 1:1 for labor, 5-6:1 for post-partum, and 5-6:1 for nursery. Key equipment includes GE fetal monitors and EMR systems. Typical procedures performed on the unit include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and care for antepartum patients, as well as newborn and post-partum care.
Navy blue scrubs are required for the dress code, with the added note that MIU nurses wear pink badges for infant security. The schedule includes every third weekend with 12 hours of call every four weeks.
