Certified Nursing Assistant, Pediatric Long-Term Care

• Provide restorative nursing care to pediatric long-term care residents under Nursing and/or Rehab staff direction
• Maximize and maintain residents’ physical functioning and emotional wellness
• Act as an extender to nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists
• Perform nursing and rehabilitation procedures and resident care tasks within scope of competence and hospital policies
• Provide direct hands-on treatment under licensed nursing and/or rehabilitation staff supervision
• Maintain a safe, resident-friendly environment of care
• Keep resident equipment and materials in good repair
• Maintain residents’ personal items and environment to optimize care and safety
• Report changes in condition or resident concerns to licensed nurses and/or rehabilitation therapists
• Participate in department and team projects as directed

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification required for hire and continued employment
• Current CPR or BLS certification within 60 days of employment, depending on setting
• Previous experience providing activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and caring for patients’ physical and emotional needs
• Previous experience using a personal computer, keyboard, and mouse
• Satisfactory completion of a nurse aide education program approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing
• Required to work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lift 20–50 lbs.
• Prolonged standing, frequent bending, walking, and overhead/extensive/repetitive reaching
• Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, and frequent change
