DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an Outpatient Hematology Oncology Clinic role requiring chemotherapy certification and at least one year of chemo experience.
Details- Outpatient Hematology Oncology Clinic setting
- Care for patients with various cancers including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
- 10-hour day shifts, , with a rotating day off between Monday/Wednesday
- Candidates will float within scope if needed
- Local candidates accepted at the same base rate
- Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submittal
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, including at least 1 year of chemotherapy administration experience
- BSN preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC); OCN preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, port access/management, central line and PICC line care, and central line blood draws
- Chemotherapy administration experience including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral administration
- Ability to manage chemotherapy-related symptom side effects such as nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
- Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
- 2 professional references required
- Must have graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, port and central line management, and symptom monitoring for oncology patients
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage chemotherapy-related complications
- Complete required orientation modules through the VCU Learning Exchange, to be finished by the Friday of orientation week
- Facility maintains a natural nail policy and is a drug, tobacco, and smoke-free workplace
- Returning travelers or former VCU Health employees must have been separated from employment for at least six to twelve months prior to starting
- Time-off requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to manager approval; no time off granted during the first week of assignment
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
