Locum Nurse Practitioner - Urgent Care – Richmond, VA

- Duration: Contract ongoing until permanent hire flanks full coverage needs
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 7 days/week operation (8:00 AM – 8:00 PM)
- Hours/Week: 36 hours (3 shifts/week)
- Employment Type: Locum ongoing
- License/Certs: Virginia nurse practitioner license required, BLS certified
- Experience: Previous urgent care or primary care outpatient experience preferred
- Hourly Rate: Competitive, based on experience ($0.00 listed, discussed upon application)

- Provide urgent care services including laceration repair, wound management, foreign body removal, and basic orthopedic stabilization
- Perform diagnostic procedures, including X-ray interpretation and point-of-care testing (e.g., rapid strep, influenza, COVID-19)
- Manage epistaxis, cerumen impaction, and airway stabilization as needed
- Document thoroughly in Epic EMR system
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care for diverse patient populations
- Handle an average of 25–50 patients daily, adapting to patient flow
- Virginia Nurse Practitioner license
- BLS certification
- Experience with urgent care procedures and minor trauma management
- Strong clinical skills in suturing, I&D, splinting, and diagnostic testing
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a busy outpatient environment
This assignment involves providing urgent care services across multiple outpatient clinics in Richmond, VA, with a focus on episodic care and higher-acuity cases. The provider will deliver high-quality care to a diverse patient population, handling everything from acute injuries to minor illnesses. No call coverage required, and the schedule is designed to promote work-life balance.
