Position Purpose

As the supplier quality technician you will be enabling production to do their job with high quality materials. This role will reduce delays due to supplier product issues, and allow only quality products to make it to our customers. The supplier quality technician helps open the lines of communication between production and our valued supply base by providing timely and data driven information to the department's internal and external customers.

You will help to maintain the premium quality level in purchased materials.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Packing Quality

  • Assure that purchased materials comply with LEGO requirements.
  • Act as first line of defense when supplier defects are found, lead the categorization of the defects and communicate to the suppliers in a manner that is clear and concise via supplier notifications
  • Support production through efficient containments of defects, strong and timely communication, and escalations
  • Manage quarantined material and follow through the nonconforming material process including following up on the RMA process
  • Perform incoming inspection on purchased materials based on associated risk level.
  • Maintenance of internal data bases
  • Manage daily metric data and action logs and present in relevant huddles
  • Supervise supplier s personnel in case of containment on site, considering all EHS requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of workspace and reject areas.
  • Perform fast and efficient investigations in COMBI 2.0 and make traceability reports.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure processes are being followed.
  • Ensure that supplier quality concerns are promptly identified, solved and escalated.
  • Maintain, update and develop supplier quality process documentation
  • All other job duties as assigned

Training, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Support training and coaching of packing and quality team members on supplier quality methods and standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and QEHS colleagues to improve process capability and compliance.
  • Maintain 5S standards within assigned areas and support audit readiness.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Experience
  • Two to three years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or equivalent roles.
Technical & Professional Skills
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, inspections, and non-conformance management.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand basic technical or quality documentation.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull materials up to approximately 35 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Decision-Making Authority
  • Authority to stop packing operations due to quality concerns and escalate issues that pose risk to employees, or product quality.
  • Authority to make quality disposition decisions on non-conforming material within defined procedures.
  • Authority to stop or reject incoming material shipments based on quality risks.
  • Access to confidential product and process information including novelty items prior to novelty manufacturing; confidentiality agreement required.

  • Schedule:

    8:00 am - 4:30 pm starting out, transitioning to a 2-2-3 schedule working 6:00 am - 6:00 pm in 2027.

Note: This position is based at our LEGO Virginia manufacturing factory located in Richmond. This is not a remote position.
