The Senior Histotechnician – Quality Control for Leica Biosystems is a hybrid role bridging quality inspection and histology functions. This position is responsible for independently executing and overseeing histology-based product testing and quality control inspections, while supporting the Quality Management System (QMS), including ownership of the site instrument calibration program.
This position is part of the Quality Control Laboratory located in Richmond, Illinois and will be on-site. You will be part of the Quality Team and report to the Manager, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, responsible for ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across laboratory operations.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Execute and interpret end-to-end histology testing including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping, and slide evaluation for raw material, in-process production, and finished goods, using different techniques and approved methods. Effectively communicate the status of product testing across multiple departments.
- Execute quality (QC) inspections and disposition activities to release raw materials and finished goods in accordance with approved specifications and quality procedures.
- Support the QMS, keeping overall documentation accurate, and the company in audit readiness status within the quality system. Own and manage the Instrument Calibration program and Preventative Maintenance for laboratory equipment, including schedules, records, external vendors, and corrective actions.
- Minimum of associate's degree in Histology, Laboratory Science, or related scientific discipline.
- One (1) year of hands‑on experience performing histology and analytical testing in a regulated laboratory environment.
- Experience supporting quality investigations and audits.
- Experience managing laboratory instrumentation, including preventative maintenance and calibration.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
The hourly range for this role is $33.00 - $35.00 per hour. This role is eligible for bonus or incentive pay. Benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
