Position: Environmental Laboratory Technician - WetChem (Thurs - Sun 10/hr)

A Day in the Life

As a Laboratory Technician II (Wet Chem) in our Richmond, VA lab, you’ll assist multiple projects and will increasingly interact with our multidisciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

Compensation: $21.00 to $24.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule:

Thursday–Sunday, 10‑hour shift (10amto8:30pm).

NOTE:

Training will be Monday–Friday 8:30amto5pm before moving over to shift work.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of samples for analysis
  • Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment
  • Sample preparation
  • Determining the volume of samples
  • Cleaning of laboratory glassware
  • Maintaining clean laboratory areas
  • Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis
  • Perform instrumental analysis of samples
  • Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
  • Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Comply with Onterris Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred
  • 1‑2 years of lab experience
  • Understanding of physical and chemical principles underlying procedures used in each method
  • Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs
  • Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations and use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to write correspondence and reports
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting, standing, and walking
  • Lifting 50 pounds several times a day
  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
  • Works in an office environment
  • May be exposed to hot and cold environments
