Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Starting Salary: From $70,000/year (Higher compensation available based on experience.)
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support workplace safety programs in a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This hands‑on role focuses on hazard identification, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while helping maintain a safe and productive workplace.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an active presence throughout production and fabrication areas.
- Monitor daily operations to identify workplace hazards and safety concerns.
- Promote safe work practices and a positive safety culture.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and document findings.
- Track corrective actions and follow through to completion.
- Support compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with new hire safety orientation, training, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Provide safety coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors.
- Assist with incident, injury, and near‑miss investigations, including root cause analysis.
- Help implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and compliance files.
- Support ongoing improvements to safety programs and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in safety, EHS, risk management, manufacturing, or an industrial environment.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, hazard recognition, and incident investigation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels.
- ASP, CSP, or other professional safety certifications are preferred.
