Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
Starting Pay: $31/hour (Higher pay available based on experience)
Overtime: Saturdays as needed
We are hiring a Quality Control Inspector with structural steel fabrication experience to support quality checks throughout the production process. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators with strong inspection skills may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect fabricated structural steel components throughout production.
- Verify materials, dimensions, layouts, and part placement against shop drawings and specifications.
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections.
- Identify and document nonconforming work in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.5 requirements.
- Work with production teams to investigate and correct quality issues.
- Support ongoing quality improvement efforts.
- Participate in annual AISC QC audits

- 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and quality standards.
- Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with production teams.
