Summary:
The Center for Biomarker Research and Precision Medicine (BPM, (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) at Virginia Commonwealth University is searching for a motivated research fellow to join our team. Our research program aims to alleviate the tremendous personal, familial, and societal burden of mental illness and substance use disorders by using state-of-the-art technologies to identify molecular markers that can be used to develop new medications.
We are conducting multiple large-scale single-nucleus transcriptomic studies using human samples to better understand the biological causes of disorders such as autism, alcohol use disorder, schizophrenia, and suicide, and to identify new drug targets. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to help publish findings in leading scientific journals. This highly multidisciplinary and collaborative project involves both local and external partners.
The position is initially for two years and provides excellent opportunities for publishing research articles and advancing career development.

Duties & Responsibilities- We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to help publish findings from large-scale single-nucleus transcriptomic in leading scientific journals.
- Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in psychiatric genetics or a related field. The candidate must possess excellent oral and written English. Demonstrated record of primary responsibility for drafting manuscripts submitted to peer-reviewed journals. Expertise with Linux/Unix and R. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a postdoctoral fellow at VCU. - Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in psychiatric genetics.
