Job Description

Dewberry seeks to hire Archaeological Field Technicians for upcoming projects along the east coast of America, weather dependent. Additional work assignments may lead from this project contingent upon the quality of the archaeological services demonstrated throughout this assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Summarizing field results, including preparing shovel test profiles.
  • Preparing GIS analyses of field results to produce graphics for inclusion in reports.
  • Researching histories of project locations and writing summaries of the local history for inclusion in project reports.
  • Preparing field maps for future field work efforts in advance of archaeological surveys.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum project requirements include successful completion of an archaeological field school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology or related field.
  • Physical requirements include standing or kneeling for long periods of time, hiking in rugged terrain, and carrying up to 40 lbs of gear.
  • This project requires prior experience with GPS units in the field and traversing topographically challenging terrain to conduct a surface archaeological survey. Knowledge of precontact archaeological material is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be self‑motivated, able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions and be able to work under supervision and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience with all phases of excavation and artifact identification is a plus.
  • Hourly pay will depend on archaeological experience.
  • Include salary history/requirements when responding along with prior archaeological project experience.
