Job Description

Seeking a full time research coordinator who is creative,enthusiastic, and motivated for the Mulvaney lab at the Children’sNational Research and Innovation Center in Washington, DC. The labwill be affiliated with the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute(FBRI) at Virginia Tech and jointly be members of the Children’sNational Hospital Cancer and Immunobiology program. The lab’s work focuses on signaling pathways in pediatric and adult cancers—with aparticular emphasis on therapeutically targeting enzyme vulnerabilities.

Available projects include structurally and biochemically identifying mechanisms of substrate recruitment tomethyltransferases, such as PRMT5, and CRISPR screening for combination drug treatments for various tumor types.

The research coordinator will be responsible for performing computational analyses and modeling. Additional duties include maintaining a well-kept lab notebook and documentation on Git Hub,GEO and other relevant computational databases for publication.

Training will be provided for all aspects of the position. RAs will contribute to interesting projects and have the opportunity topublish or co-publish their work.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated research experience
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics packages and applied knowledge of RNA and proteomics data
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to succeed in a fast-paced research environment with multiple concurrent duties
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization in R and codingin Python (or similar systems)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Eager to learn and perform wet bench molecular biology and cancerresearch
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or degree in Biology
  • Coursework or training in computer science orbioinformatics
  • Experience with tissue culture, western blots, or protein purification
