Duties & Responsibilities:

Dr. Thomson, Director of Research at the Injury and Violence Prevention Program (IVPP) at VCU, is accepting applications for oneresearch-focused post-doctoral fellowship. The candidate will be involved in ongoing research activities on the topics of violence prevention and developmental psychopathology (a focus onpersonality and externalizing disorders). The candidate should havea strong interest in pursuing independent research within these areas or closely related. Duties

The candidate will be responsible for conducting day-to-day research and scholarly activities. This will includemanuscript and grant preparation, as well as participant recruitment,conducting baseline and follow-up assessments, dataentry, database development, analyzing data, literature reviews,IRB protocol compliance and maintenance, and disseminating research at local and national conferences.

Requirements
  • Requires a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field
  • Proficient quantitative data analysis skills including the ability to use statistical packages (SPSS)
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in publishing research
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
  • Publication history in the field of violence/aggression
  • Demonstrated success of independent research
  • Experience conducting clinical interviews and neurocognitiveassessments
  • Experience conducting or sound knowledge of trauma-informedinterventions
  • Those with experience/interest in forensic/clinical psychology and intervention research are strongly encouraged to apply
