Duties and Responsibilities:
The VCU School of Nursing is accepting applications for apost-doctoral fellow. The successful candidate for this two-year position will have research and teaching foci that align with Drs.
Lana Sargent and Amy Salisbury. We have a particular interest in ascholar with experience in clinical research across the lifespan who seeks to deepen their expertise in health outcomes using alife-course perspective, with a focus on women, children, and families, or older adults, from a developmental perspective. The successful candidate will participate in funded projects led byDrs. Sargent and Salisbury, while also building a foundation fortheir own area of research.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to research excellence; technical skills in project management, research data monitoring, and supervision of research teams; a history of formalor informal teaching experiences; and a history of publications andgrant submissions. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting human-subject research, managing clinical trial protocols, and analyzing data from intervention studies.
Typical Duties
The fellow will work with established researchers and colleagues on scholarly activities that may include research design and study implementation, participant recruitment, data entry, database development, data analysis, literature reviews, IRB protocol development and compliance and maintenance, manuscript and grant writing, and dissemination of research at relevant conferences. Postdoctoral training will include intentional opportunities for mentoring and professional development in both research and teaching. The postdoctoral fellow and mentors will collaboratively develop research, teaching, and professional development plans aligned with their professional goals.
The postdoc will build their fellowship plan to include teaching at least one undergraduate or graduate course each year.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Ph.D. in a health professions field, Nursing preferred.
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills
- Evidence of excellent organizational skills
- Evidence of a strong core of research preparation
- Experience in analyzing and publishing research findings
- Experience in managing NIH-funded randomized controlled trials
- Experience supervising study personnel, including undergraduateRAs
- Experience writing research grants
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in designing and conducting independent research
- Interest in implementation science, mobile health, and modelsof care
- Teaching experience (formal or informal) in an academic setting
