Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Image Analyst Assistant supports the Imaging Research Team in cardiovascular research activities. Responsibilities may include assisting with echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) image analysis; archiving imaging and functional data; performing image quality control activities, including investigating and reassessing outliers; troubleshooting image-related issues; ensuring data accuracy; and compiling results for review. Additional duties may include reviewing and organizing clinical information, maintaining study documentation and databases, and providing general support for research operations.
The assistant works collaboratively with the Imaging Team to support cardiovascular research studies.
This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance
Core Responsibilities- Assist with echo cardiographic and/or CMR image analysis and quantitative measurements in accordance with study protocols and established quality standards.
- Review, organize, archive, and maintain cardiovascular imaging data and associated research records to support data completeness and integrity.
- Assist with image quality control activities, including identification of discrepancies, reassessment of outlier measurements, and support of troubleshooting efforts related to analysis issues.
- Collect, enter, verify, and maintain research data from imaging studies, medical records, case report forms, and study databases.
- Maintain study documentation and research records in compliance with institutional policies and study requirements.
- Compile imaging analysis results and study data for investigator review and inclusion in reports, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Cardiovascular Technology, Medical Imaging, Applied Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Experience working with cardiovascular imaging, clinical data, healthcare records, or research-related datasets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with research participants, healthcare professionals, and investigators.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical thinking, and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific, health-related, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience assisting with echo cardiographic image analysis and measurement collection, including cardiac chamber volumes, dimensions, mass, ventricular function, and blood flow parameters.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, including body composition measures that influence cardiovascular health and disease.
- Experience maintaining study documentation and supporting clinical or translational research projects.
- Experience operating cardiovascular imaging analysis software and image management systems.
- Experience interacting with patients and healthcare providers in a clinical or research setting, including collection of health information, vital signs, and study-related data.
- Experience supporting research activities that contributed to scientific abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, or peer-reviewed publications.
$45,000 - $55,300
