Introducing Our Sales Trainee Program

Our 12‑month Sales Trainee Program (STP) offers early‑career professionals a unique opportunity to embark on a rewarding career in sales at Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company dedicated to building better infrastructure, homes, and businesses. The program begins September 14, 2026.

What to Expect

The program is designed to accelerate a career in sales by rotating through several training elements, providing guided development and on‑the‑job learning. Throughout 12 months you will gain exposure in different areas, shadow key partners, and receive formalized mentorship.

Program Structure
  • Learn: Participate in workshops, programs, and other learning opportunities to enhance sales skills and industry knowledge. Engage actively in training sessions to understand the company's products, services, sales techniques, and processes.
  • Shadow: Observe experienced sales professionals in client interactions, sales strategies, and negotiation techniques, from prospecting to closing deals and post‑sale support.
  • Develop: Seek feedback from mentors, supervisors, and peers to enhance performance. Participate in performance evaluations and assessments to track progress, identify strengths, and set development goals.

Program Graduation

Upon successful completion, graduates will move into one of several sales destination roles. Final placement considers individual preferences and business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the sales team in tasks such as outlining project tasks and timelines, prospecting for new leads, and handling customer inquiries.
  • Assist in developing sales proposals, contracts, and other documentation required for closing deals.
  • Coordinate tasks, track progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables for sales projects and initiatives.
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs, address inquiries, and provide information about products or services.
  • Capture customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Take initiative to learn new sales techniques, tools, and technologies that contribute to success in the role.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or 1–3 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong desire to work in a sales‑focused role and learn about products, services, sales technologies, and processes at Ferguson.
  • Self‑motivated with a consistent track record of driving results.
  • Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to address customer needs effectively.
  • Flexibility and openness to change.
  • Previous professional experience or internships in sales preferred.
