Job Summary: Under general supervision, this position is responsible for contacting prospective customers and selling J.B. Hunt solutions for their enterprise. Accounts will primarily focus on designated transportation mode(s) to fulfill business objectives, though cross‑divisional activity is possible. The role defines opportunities to sell J.B. Hunt services, onboard new clients, establish customer success strategies, align internal teams, and transition customers to account management for ongoing service.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize data insights and sales enablement tools to conduct lead generation activities for new business, including cold calling, networking, and other prospecting methods to convert leads; assess prospecting strategy with leadership to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Meet with prospective customers to discuss viable opportunities, understand their business needs, identify scope, develop strategy, submit a proposal, finalize the contract, and win the business.
- Develop account strategy for maintenance and growth; create a future opportunities roadmap for accounts to be maintained by internal account management after transition.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customers to implement solutions, including participation in kick‑off; create mutually agreeable implementation strategies.
- Set expectations during implementation for internal resources to maintain account health, review customer KPI, revenue quality, and opportunity monitoring, and ensure contract and payment terms are adhered to; receive support from senior team members for larger or complex accounts.
- High School Diploma or GED. 2–3 years of Sales, Account Management, or relevant experience and/or military equivalent with at least 1 year of North American Truckload experience.
- Willingness to travel locally with occasional overnight trips.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt standards.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 2–3 years of Sales, Account Management, or relevant experience and/or military equivalent with at least 1 year of North American Truckload experience.
- Ability to work with minimal direction, perform high‑velocity prospecting, execute sales negotiation and closing techniques, forecast and develop sales plans, and manage and maximize a pipeline.
- Knowledge of internal networking and selling to close and implement deals.
Base pay is determined by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may qualify for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes under company plans. Top 20% performers receive a $15,000 annual incentive based on a three‑year average.
