Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • The Specialty Sales Representative (SSR) – Pulmonology will manage the business within a specific geographical territory (Richmond, VA and surrounding areas).
  • The SSR‑Pulmonology will report directly to a Regional Sales Director.
  • Detail customers: pulmonologists, primary care physicians, allergists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and nurses.
  • Travel required is based on territory size and customer locations.
  • Sell and promote Grifols’ alpha‑one augmentation therapy to exceed financial objectives within the territory.
  • Execute the National sales and marketing strategy and create a territory business tactical plan to maximize opportunity, working in partnership with home‑office personnel, the Brand team and the National and Corporate account teams for pull‑through of product sales.
  • Run the business by analyzing account and physician sales data and creating territory tactical plans, providing solutions to grow the business.
  • Use Microsoft applications as well as Grifols’ customer management system and enter call data; be organized and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Manage a defined territory travel/expense budget moving toward P/L.
  • Maintain company and industry compliance rules.
Qualifications

Education:

  • In‑depth knowledge of the medical industry (specialty pharmacy, home health, managed care, biologics/biotech, pharmaceutical and/or hospital).
  • Respiratory and primary‑care experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree (life sciences or similar preferred).
  • Advanced degrees (MBA a plus) welcome.
  • At least 4 years of experience in pharma, biotech, healthcare or medical sales, marketing and/or sales management.
  • Consistently high performer.
  • Demonstrated leadership among peers and colleagues.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits 4‑6 hours per day, requires hand movements and quick finger, hand and wrist movements. Frequently walks, occasionally bends and twists the neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects up to 35 lbs. Frequently drives to site locations and travels within the United States. Requires the ability to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand, with the ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Applies abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability of occurrence. Plans work assignments to meet objectives.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated pay scale for Specialty Sales Representative, Pulmonary based in Richmond, Virginia is $120,000 to $145,000 per year. The position is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan that is $46,000 per year and is uncapped. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, up to 5% 401(k) match and tuition reimbursement. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
