As a Laboratory Technician in our Richmond, VA lab, you’ll assist multiple projects and interact with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.
Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday.
- Preparation of samples for analysis
- Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment
- Sample preparation
- Determining the volume of samples
- Cleaning of laboratory glassware
- Maintaining clean laboratory areas
- Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis
- Perform instrumental analysis of samples
- Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
- Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and other policies
- Comply with Onterris Health and Safety Plan
- Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred
- 1-2 years of experience working in a lab
- Understanding of physical and chemical principles underlying why procedures are specified the way they were for each method with which they work
- Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to write correspondence and reports
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, and walking
- Lifting 50 pounds several times a day
- Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
- Works in an office environment
- May be exposed to hot and cold environments
- May occasionally work shifts up to 12 hours in duration
