Senior Scientist of Visualization Science
This role reports into the Site and Capability team. You will serve as a Senior Scientist of Visualization Science in the R&D Product Chemistry Group reporting to the group Director. The purpose of this R&D global support group is to gain insight on how our product chemistry links to product performance. Here we support our formulation teams in early-stage product development with an eye toward exploiting the chemistry/performance link toward product claims and performance visualizations.
This role will have a specific visualization focus, creating lab demonstrations which communicate the superiority of Haleon products over competitors.
Role Responsibilities
- Create meaningful visualizations of Haleon's products using various scientific techniques to communicate effectively externally.
- Lead visualization science projects from end to end. Demonstrate product/material mechanism of action or superiority in consumer understandable ways.
- Translate approved claims or technical reports into visually striking demonstrations which are scientifically defendable.
- Work with key stakeholders to align on projects/claims for which visualization projects bring value
- Design/source/hyphenate instrumentation capable of demonstrating compelling visualizations of physical/chemical properties
- Coordinate closely with other Haleon teams throughout development to deliver visualization projects on time
Other Responsibilities
Flexibility – Be able to learn new methodologies/technologies/software as needed in a fast paced role
Creativity – Hunting for new ways of showing/explaining scientific principles is a core component of the role
Critical Thinking – Discern if experiments/demonstrations will hold up to external scrutiny/challenges
Basic Qualifications:
- Success in this role will come mainly from experience, however a traditional education in Engineering and/or Chemistry/Physics is expected
- Knowledgeable about engineering and chemistry/physics principles and uses both interchangeably to solve problems and look for possibilities
- Demonstrated experience writing technical reports in the form of technical story-telling and communicating to technical and non-technical partners alike
- Have fundamental understanding of lab operations including physical/chemical characterization with various instrumentation
- Must be mechanically/electrically inclined to enable hyphenation of unusual instrument sequences and/or creation of new instrumentation
- Must thrive in evolving environments and be willing to help build out visualization capabilities and systems
- Must work as a team member and want to listen and learn
- Expected to be comfortable as a practicing Scientist where majority of time is spent in the laboratory designing / executing experiments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for photography/videography and related software (Adobe Creative Cloud)
