Laboratory Scientist

Title – Prototyping and Testing Laboratory Scientist
Shift - 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Location – Onsite, Richmond, VA
Duration – 12 months
Pay range: $38.00- $42.33/hr.
Job Description:

The Prototyping and Testing Laboratory Scientist will support formulation development, prototype preparation, analytical testing, and material characterization activities in a research laboratory environment. The role will prepare liquid, solid, and other formulations and prototypes according to established procedures and instructions. The role will prepare analytical samples, operate analytical instrumentation according to SOPs and experimental protocols, and conduct prototype testing using established methods.

The individual will document experimental activities, maintain accurate laboratory records, and support routine maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory instruments and equipment. The position will also maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, housekeeping standards, and compliance with laboratory safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements while supporting assigned laboratory projects.

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Nutraceutical Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related scientific discipline.

• Ability to follow SOPs, perform routine laboratory assignments accurately, and independently execute established procedures.

• Strong computer proficiency, scientific documentation skills, and ability to draft/revise laboratory procedures with minimal guidance.

• Preferred hands-on experience with LC/MS and/or GC/MS, analytical sample preparation, routine chemical analysis, chromatographic data interpretation, and technical report preparation.

Top 3 Skills Sets:
1) Hands-on laboratory execution and prototype/formulation preparation.
2) Analytical testing, sample preparation, and material characterization; LC/MS and/or GC/MS experience preferred.
3) Strong documentation, data quality, SOP compliance, attention to detail, and communication skills.
