Job Summary
Support Security Management in providing effective campus-wide safety and security operations, including emergency preparedness, in order to create a safe and secure environment for the community.
Shift & CompensationMonday through Friday, 6am to 2pm, plus alternating on‑call weekends. Base pay plus shift differential and overtime pay.

- Assist Security Management with staff scheduling and interviews
- Ensure all Security Officers meet Training Requirements
- Oversee day‑to‑day assignments of Security personnel, monitor performance, provide coaching, and make performance recommendations
- Secure building areas, install locks, check intrusion and fire alarm systems, provide escorts, patrol, and monitor CCTV cameras for suspicious activity
- Respond to residents, staff, and visitor emergencies promptly
- Lead investigations of offenses, incidents, injuries, accidents, thefts, threats, and other unusual occurrences
- Assist in coordinating security, fire, and safety programs; train residents and staff; keep everyone updated on policy and code changes
- Additional duties as assigned
- Computers, including Microsoft Office
- Closed‑circuit TV cameras and other security systems
- Access control systems
- Emergency system operation familiarity
- PA systems
- Security vehicle
- Identification badge and key‑making systems
- Medium physical demand
- Work outside and inside buildings in all weather conditions
- Lift 50 pounds unassisted; 50+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
- Walk long distances and climb stairways up to 50% of the workday
Skills and Abilities
- Security access control systems
- Knowledge of NFPA Life Safety Codes
- General alarm system knowledge
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook
- Ability to give direction and delegate assignments to Security Officers
- Ability to lead others by example
- Desire to work with senior adults
- Clear written and oral communication skills
Education and Experience
- 1 year of experience as a security officer in a hotel, hospital, or health‑care facility
- Valid driver’s license in the State of Virginia; minimum age 21 to drive for the organization
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire date
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in criminal justice or related field
- Unarmed Security Officer registration from the Department of Criminal Justice Services
- High standard of integrity

- Sound judgment to make prompt decisions and communicate them clearly
