Security Officer - Part Time

The hours are Monday through Friday 1:00 pm‑6:00 pm;

no weekend hours are required, and wearing a uniform is expected.

Starting Hourly Rate: $18.00

• Secure premises and personnel by controlling and monitoring surveillance equipment for anything unusual, potentially threatening, and/or suspicious activity.
• Be visible and observant at all times, greet staff and visitors in a courteous and attentive manner while monitoring and controlling door access for co‑workers, guests, vendors, etc.
• Maintain the company’s reputation with professionalism and legal compliance, including informing violators of established policy and procedures. Any damages, theft, injuries, or other irregular activity must be documented.
• At the direction of the Safety and Security Manager, investigate and take appropriate lawful action as authorized by corporate policy on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activity, safety, and fire incidents. Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents swiftly and appropriately.
• Participate in and be trained to present all safety training. Maintain a record of safety training; no documented safety violations in the past 12 months. Understand and use SDS sheets, wear PPE when appropriate, and secure all metal objects at all times.
• Receive and log all incoming packages on the incoming package log spreadsheet and ensure that packages are picked up by the department to which they belong.
• Consistently adhere to established policies and procedures.
• Wear metal‑free clothing, show a badge, and always clock in/out. Follow all security rules, keep the badge visible, and maintain proper metal flow procedures.
• Maintain high ethics and professionalism.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable and punctual—attendance must meet all scheduled hours.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ideally 3–5 years of security experience and a Virginia security license (a plus, not required).
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) to create reports.
• Knowledge of basic security operations and procedures.
