MEB is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment in support of heavy civil construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Primary equipment includes excavators and loaders, with the ability to operate additional equipment as needed based on project requirements.
Safety, quality, and productivity are non-negotiable. Operators are expected to work in active construction environments, follow all safety procedures, protect underground utilities, and support the crew through manual labor when equipment is not in operation.

Safely operate excavators and loaders as primary equipment on heavy civil projects.
Operate additional equipment as needed, including dump trucks, bulldozers, backhoes, water trucks, and tampers.
Perform excavation, loading, hauling, grading, trenching, and back filling in industrial facilities, roadways, and right-of-way environments.
Excavate trenches and install underground utilities, including water, sewer, and drainage systems.
Install and work safely around trench and excavation protection systems, including trench boxes, sheets, plates, and hydraulic shoring.
Read and follow survey stakes, grades, blueprints, and supervisor direction.
Evaluate lifting capacities of equipment and rigging versus load weights.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor field repairs on equipment.
Maintain good housekeeping and care of equipment and work areas.
Perform manual labor and assist other crafts when equipment is not in use.
Follow all safety policies and procedures and stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
Required Experience & SkillsDemonstrated experience operating excavators and loaders on heavy civil construction projects (5+ years preferred).
Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as dozers, dump trucks, backhoes, water trucks, and compacting equipment.
Knowledge of trench safety, shoring systems, and working around live utilities.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, grades, and survey markings.
Strong situational awareness and ability to work safely around crews, traffic, and the public.
Willingness and ability to perform manual labor in support of the crew.
Safety & Physical RequirementsCommitment to working safely in accordance with company, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting over 50 lbs., climbing in and out of equipment, working in confined spaces, and working outdoors in all weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work 8–10 hour shifts and extended hours as project schedules require.
Employment RequirementsMinimum 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license required; driving record will be reviewed in accordance with company standards.
Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check may be required for government projects.
