We are seeking Pipelayers for utility/roadway projects in the Richmond, VA area.
SummaryLays and joins pipe for sewers, water mains, and storm drains, including rigging pipe for hoisting, setting pipe to grade and affixing the pipe joint. Prepares and grades the trenches either manually or by communicating with the equipment operator.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Align pipes in pipeline sections according to specifications.
- Dig trenches with trenching tools.
- Set pipes into trenches.
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of pipes.
- Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels.
- Covers pipe with dirt or other material.
- Assists others with hands-on work.
- Works in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
- Ability to follow directions;
- Handle basic hand tools, such as shovel, pick, broom, hammer, saw, paint brushes, etc.
- Light or heavy handling;
- Job site housekeeping;
- Flagging;
- Erect construction signs, cones, etc.
Two to three years related experience and/or training preferred.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Expected base pay range for this positions is: $23/hr - $27/hr this compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Kokosing at the time of the posting.
Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
