Job DescriptionThe Field Generator Technician installs, repairs, and performs routine and preventative maintenance on backup power systems for telecommunication companies, local businesses, and emergency service personnel. Candidates must be based in Virginia to be considered.
Primary Responsibilities- Perform generator repairs on commercial generators and preventive maintenance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot generator issues.
- Maintain knowledge of updated equipment models.
- Evaluate and recommend necessary repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Assist with related duties as assigned.
- At least 2 years of related experience.
- Must be 25 years or older.
- GED or High School Diploma.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Mechanical background; generator mechanics a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
- Ability to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing.
- Computer literate (Windows environment).
- Dependable, able to work independently.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and bend/twist multiple times per day.
- Flexible schedule with travel and overnight stay possible.
- DOT Medical Card required.
- Working knowledge of generator operations and business objectives.
- Compliance with company policies and objectives.
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and a safe work environment.
- Trained in troubleshooting and operating basic shop equipment.
Hourly wages range from $25 to $35 per hour based on experience.
Hourly rates by level:
Level 1: $25–27;
Level 2: $28–30;
Level 3: $31–35;
Level 4: $35–40.
