- Operate a self-propelled Roller with either steel drums or solid rubber wheels used for compacting hot mix asphalt.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, local, state and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Rides on platform of machine and moves lever, pedals, or throttles to control and guide machine.
- Must be able to perform daily checks on equipment (i.e., hydraulic fluid level, greasing, oil levels).
- Use hand tools such as hand shovel, wrench, and screwdriver.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Previous heavy highway construction experience preferred.
- Knowledge of compacting procedures dealing with different asphalt mixes.
- Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.
- Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Will be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.
- Overtime work is required.
- Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
