Job Description

Kokosing is a large general contractor with over $2.8 billion in annual sales and a commitment to its workforce. The New Lock at the Soo Project, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, is a $1 billion, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers‑supported project scheduled to complete in 2029.

We are looking for skilled craft professionals to join our team at the New Lock at the Soo Project. This critical infrastructure effort offers experienced tradespeople an opportunity to contribute to a major construction project while advancing their careers in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

• General Foreman – Lead crews, coordinate daily activities, ensure productivity and safety, communicate with superintendents and project managers, read and interpret drawings, manage materials, and plan work sequences.
• Carpentry / Formwork Installation – Layout, measure, cut, form, and assemble concrete formwork for temporary and permanent structures such as walls, slabs, and foundations.
• Concrete Work – Perform concrete placement, vibration, screeding, finishing, curing, and quality control for both horizontal and vertical applications.
• General Labor – Support housekeeping, material handling, tool and equipment setup, traffic control, and assistance to skilled trades as needed.
• Ironwork / Rebar Installation – Place and secure rebar or structural steel, read shop drawings, and follow lift plans.

• Five or more years of experience in heavy civil and industrial construction.
• Rigging and signaling certifications and experience are a plus.
• OSHA 10‑hour certification or higher is required.

The role requires standing, walking, handling and using hands, reaching, talking, and hearing. Tasks include climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must lift or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and moderate to loud noise is possible.
