• Lays building materials, including concrete and brick, and constructs or repairs masonry surfaces or structures.
• Prepares surfaces prior to beginning work
• Lays blocks or bricks following blueprints, plans, or drawings
• Lays out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels
• Mixes cement using hoes, cement-mixing equipment, and/or hand tools
• Has knowledge and ability to use brick ruler
• Cuts or breaks bricks and concrete using hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills, and/or hand tools
• Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, joints, and straightedge
• Performs finish masonry work, installs mixes mortar
• Erects staging or scaffolding if the job requires
• Screens sand, mixing it with cement and water to obtain consistency necessary
• Installs all work plumb and level
• Smooths mortar and removes excess material with trowel

• Dependable, reliable, fulfills responsibilities.
• Physical activity using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
• Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing and hard hats when needed.
• Working in various weather conditions

• Minimum ofthree years’ experience of masonry restoration
• Must have own basic masonry tools.
• Must be able to travel to job site locations.
• Must be able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders, lift and carry objects weighing up-to 80 pounds.
• Experience working on historic properties is a must.
