We are looking for Drill Operators to join our Geotechnical Group in Virginia. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, dependable, can communicate efficiently, work well with others, and direct others assisting in the work. Experience in earth work and micro‑pile drilling is preferred. Extensive travel is required for work in the Mid‑Atlantic and Southeast regions. Per diem allowance is provided in addition to base pay/benefits when travel is required.
The Geotechnical Construction Services group provides services for projects requiring foundations and earth retention systems. Work is performed outdoors year‑round.
Wagman is a multi‑faced construction firm with operations in heavy civil, general construction, and geotechnical construction services. Wagman is a fourth‑generation, family‑owned company with offices in Pennsylvania and Virginia and is headquartered in York, PA.
The position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
Requirements- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience with temporary shoring, earth retention systems, foundations, and ground stabilization
- Ability to operate small‑diameter drill rigs and help ground crew carry work effectively
- Operate and assist in maintaining drill rigs, installing tie backs, micropiles, and soil mats
- Prepare grout for tiebacks and micropiles (experience is a plus)
- Perform minor repairs and service to equipment
- Supervise drill rig helpers in tool or mix grout operations
- Develop a full understanding of Wagman safety policies and promote a safety‑first culture
- Lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift
- Continuous standing and walking are required throughout a scheduled work shift
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather
- Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
- Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and crawl
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
- Must have the ability to reach, lift, and perform work above shoulder height and to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
