VSC Fire & Security Corporate is seeking candidates for the position of Technical Workforce Trainer
—a role that requires traveling approximately 60% of the time.

- Ability to travel approximately 60% of the time.
- Knowledge and experience within the fire protection industry, including specialized experience in one or more of the following areas—sprinkler, low voltage, special hazards—as required.
- Proven presentation and facilitation/training skills— from individuals to groups of people.
- NICET certification.
- Demonstrated PC skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with NFPA, other regulatory standards, and state and local codes.
- Thorough record‑keeping skills.
- Must exhibit leadership skills to include the ability to effectively communicate, motivate, and train inspection employees.
- Ability to represent the company in a professional manner with good interpersonal communication skills, integrity, and respect for the fire protection profession’s primary goals of life safety and property protection.
- Accurately interpret instructions and directives assigned by supervisor.
- Effectively communicate relevant project/service information to superiors.
- Confer with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training.
- Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
- Develop presentations to be used in training and/or develop/select other training aids such as manuals/handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, etc.
- Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on‑the‑job training, refresher training, system training, etc.
- Coordinate training schedule with the hiring and training demands of other corporate trainers and established corporate‑wide objectives; coordinate training with Inspection Managers and Division Managers to meet their business needs.
- Report on progress to Inspection and Division Managers of employees under guidance during training periods; maintain trainee records.
- Assist employees with problems concerning “how to” perform specific tasks related to inspection functions.
- Make suggestions on improving work processes and procedures for inspections corporate‑wide.
- Travel to other divisions, client locations and job sites; use ladders, lifts and scaffolding as necessary and access confined spaces, attics, basements, and cooler installations.
- Maintain visual acuity to read documents, meters and drawings as needed.
- Perform administrative tasks in office environment utilizing standard office equipment; require PC and document record‑keeping, good speaking voice for training presentations and telephone interactions, auditory acuity for training and telephone use, and digital dexterity for PC use; possess valid driver’s license for use of company vehicle.
- Communicate with customers or potential customers to provide site evaluations, handle discrepancies, complaints, and advice on recommended remedial actions or procedures as required.
- Assist in communication with AHJs as requested for inspection departments and represent VSC and the customer’s interests while resolving issues of non‑compliance or discrepancy.
- Work closely with technical trade employees or departments to ensure clients understand circumstances involving disagreement such as scope, method of handling on‑site conditions, or other client dissatisfaction, and that all are handled tactfully and with patience and integrity.
