Overview
Field Services Technician I – Richmond, VA. This role works in the field performing hazardous waste clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
Hourly Range: $20.00 – $22.00
Note: All new hires must attend a two‑week training academy; travel expenses are paid by the company.
Responsibilities- Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner.
- Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
- Operate light and heavy equipment, handles various hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration‑producing tools.
- Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection in numerous combinations.
- Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work in atmospheres and locations with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
- Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and low‑clearance areas.
- Work at elevations, including ladders and scaffolding.
- Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration.
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, and enter and exit trucks, tanks, and various containers.
- Work extended (> 8 hrs.) time periods.
- Attend all compliance and safety update meetings.
- Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Safely load and unload hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
- Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
- Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules.
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Be available for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
- Support site‑remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
- Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
- Agreement to be on‑call for emergency response; may work weekends, holidays, or up to 24 hrs. if needed.
- Successful completion of background check, drug test, and physical examination.
- Compliance with OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard (29 CFR 1910.34) and facial‑hair standards for respirator use.
- Previous relevant labor experience.
