Network Installation Technician
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include identifying and distinguishing properties and types of copper/fiber optic cable, interpreting blueprints, inventorying job supplies and materials, verifying and complying with site safety plans, building telecommunication spaces, installing grounding/bonding infrastructure, installing cable support systems, preparing telecommunication outlets, installing cut-in rings, installing sleeves, installing poke throughs between floors, installing inner duct for fiber optic cable, installing cable support systems under the floor, installing firestop and/or smoke barrier system, pulling horizontal cables from closet to work area, pulling backbone cables between closets, removing abandoned cable, performing copper terminations, performing fiber terminations, performing fiber optic splicing, performing fiber cable basic troubleshooting, performing Tier 1 fiber certification testing, performing Tier 2 fiber testing using OTDR, performing labeling according to a labeling scheme, and adhering to local, state, and federal fire and/or building codes and/or standards.
Required QualificationsExperience:
Must be US Citizen, obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance within 12 months of hire, 5+ years of cabling experience in the data communications industry, experience with wired and wireless environments, including 802.11a/b/g/n standards, experience in organizing and leading network installations, including on-site assessments and technical plan preparation, familiarity with engineering documentation, network topologies, and cabling infrastructure standards, experience in interpreting technical documentation and performing work per industry-standard installation practices, must have Aerial lift training, must have Confined Space training, must have Forklift training, must have ten (10) Hour OSHA Basic Industry course.
Skills:
Strong understanding of telecommunications and data cabling systems, materials, and testing procedures, ability to install and terminate copper and fiber cabling infrastructure, proficiency in coordinating and documenting technical installation processes, physical capability to perform manual tasks in physically demanding environments, excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in high-pressure scenarios.
Certifications:
Obtain and maintain active BICSI Technician, Installer certification, Other
Certifications:
BICSI Level 1 and/or Level 2 copper and fiber as required.

Schedule is day shift Monday – Friday. May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs, amount of travel: 25%. Physical demands include regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee is regularly required to lift and move up to 50 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work authorization/security clearance includes U.S. Citizen, ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
