Responsibilities
Operator of construction equipment (asphalt pavers, rollers, material transfer vehicles, milling machines, backhoes, skid steers) for milling and paving operations. Safely operate and perform non‑mechanical maintenance on equipment. Coordinate with field manager and crew for efficient, safe work.
- Discuss plans and goals for the day's work with the field manager and determine the safest, most productive approach.
- Perform physical duties required for operation of equipment.
- Maintain equipment: cleaning, greasing, and checking fluid levels.
- Prioritize safety for all persons working near equipment.
- Communicate clearly with crew to accomplish daily goals.
- GED/High School Diploma preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of equipment operating experience.
- Related work experience required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Make judgments for efficient equipment operation.
- Excellent hand, foot, and eye coordination.
- Comply with company policies: equipment repair/maintenance procedures, operator safety standards, safety, "Home Safe Tonight" and related policies, AIPS.
Requires extensive heavy physical activity and dexterity. Must operate for extended periods, get into awkward positions, stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb, or balance. May lift or handle materials up to 75 lbs. Requires good vision (close, color, peripheral).
Work EnvironmentVaried site conditions; affected by weather. Rough grading and undeveloped job sites present safety threats. May work adjacent to live traffic.
Travel RequirementsOvernight stays may be required. Night and weekend shifts common during the milling and paving season.
