OverviewDrill-Tech is seeking an HDD Foreman to lead horizontal directional drilling crews on an underground utility project in Richmond, Virginia.
Headquartered in Chester, Maryland, Drill-Tech supports HDD and underground utility projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily field operations, coordinating crews, operating equipment as needed, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise HDD field crews on active projects
- Coordinate daily work assignments and crew activities
- Operate HDD equipment as needed and assist with drilling operations
- Oversee drilling, reaming, pullback, and pipe installation
- Coordinate with locators, operators, laborers, and project leadership
- Ensure equipment inspections and preventative maintenance are completed
- Monitor productivity, quality, and jobsite safety
- Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining project schedules
- Train and mentor crew members
- Maintain communication with project management and company leadership
- 5+ years of HDD, underground utility, or heavy civil construction experience
- Previous experience leading HDD crews or serving as a Crew Lead or Foreman
- Strong understanding of HDD equipment, drilling operations, and underground utility construction
- Experience operating Vermeer 23x30, 24x40, or similar HDD equipment
- Ability to read plans and coordinate daily field operations
- Valid driver's license
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Class A CDL
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience operating Vermeer 100-series drills, 300,000 lb, or 500,000 lb maxi rigs
- Experience with Digi Trak or Para Track locating systems
- Experience with McElroy fusion equipment
- Experience with mud systems, pumps, recyclers, and drilling fluid management
