Entry-Level Data Center Fiber Tech – Onsite Richmond Job Richmond area,Virginia USA,Trades / Skilled Labor

Project Timeline:
The large‑scale data center project, initially slated for mid‑April, has been delayed to late April due to site readiness issues and material delays.

Scope of Work:
Pulling cable and porting within data centers, primarily fiber installation, testing, and troubleshooting (OTDR, Fluke). Fiber splicing is not required.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experienced, self‑starting, critical‑thinking, safety‑conscious team players who are mechanically inclined and proactive.

Team Structure:
One lead/foreman per four technicians.

Resource Volume &

Location:

Richmond, VA. Initial request for 2–4 teams of five, with potential scaling to 500+ technicians across multiple projects for hyperscaler clients (Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Amazon).

Entry‑Level Technician Responsibilities

Pull and route fiber throughout the data center.
Assemble, stack, and drill racks.
Scan, label, and port equipment.
Support general installation tasks as directed by experienced technicians.

Lead Technician Responsibilities

Pull, route, test, and troubleshoot fiber (Fluke/OTDR).
Delegate tasks, plan, and execute work.
Scan, label, take photographs, and port equipment.
Document, quality control, and produce cut sheets.

Required Attributes

Experience in physically demanding environments (construction, trades, military, or similar).

Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Reliable attendance history.

Hands‑on electrical or military experience highly valued.

Ability to work on ladders and lifts.

Compensation

Bill rate for entry technicians $20–$30/hr leads $30–$40/hr (higher rates for experienced leads). Average team bill rate between $36–$40/hr overtime is mandatory for this project.
