Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots electrical component problems with traffic signal; resolves problems and monitors traffic signal to ensure no further issues occur.
  • Fabricates and installs school zone flashers at designed schools; program flasher, assign an identification number, and monitor and maintain for proper working order.
  • Fabricates and installs missing or damaged signal‑related signs as needed.
  • Places signs at appropriate locations at construction sites and flags traffic around the work zone through communication with co‑workers.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
  • Participates in on‑call schedule.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and knowledge of M.U.T.C.D. (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices).
  • 2 years of traffic signal experience (3 years of previous traffic experience preferred); electronic background preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license; commercial driver’s license preferred.
  • IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Certification Level I obtained within one year of employment.

Starting Salary Range: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications.
