Job Overview
HMG HVAC Mechanic II – 1750 Shop Rd, Fort Gregg‑Adams, VA 23801 – Full‑time, in‑person. Pay: $45.48/hr plus benefits.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems in commercial and industrial facilities.
- Troubleshoot and service chilled water, steam, and high‑temperature water systems.
- Install compressors, condensers, evaporators, ductwork, and piping systems per blueprints.
- Assemble components, cut and tread pipe, solder or weld joints to ensure proper refrigerant and airflow circuits.
- Install and repair hydronic systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Use diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings to perform repairs and maintenance.
- Install and clean air and water filters.
- Install and repair low‑temperature refrigeration systems.
- Install and program thermostats.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts.
- Connect motors, compressors, controls, and fans to control panels, and control panels to power source.
- Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
- Communicate with scheduler to update status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
- Work independently and as a team.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports.
- Communicate directly with customers to assess needs, provide updates, and address inquiries or concerns.
- Assist with orienting and training new employees.
- All other duties/projects as assigned.
- Licensed by the State of Virginia as a Master or Journeyman HVAC Mechanic, Type II Technician.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience working on commercial heating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and controls.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including inclement weather and high man lifts.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
- Professional and courteous customer service skills.
- Willingness to work outside normal hours, including back shift and weekends, and be on call with a one‑hour response.
- Trane, York, or McQuay factory chiller certification preferred.
- Stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Obtain and maintain Ft Lee, Virginia installation clearance and CAC card.
- Required drug screening, physical, and background check.
- Valid state driver license.
