As a Generator Technician, you’ll be responsible for keeping standby power systems operating safely and reliably while delivering exceptional customer service.
Daily Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on diesel and natural gas generator systems
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system failures
- Repair and replace components including:
- Engines
- Alternators
- Voltage regulators
- Control panels
- Conduct load bank testing and performance evaluations
- Install new generator systems and replacement units to code
- Maintain detailed service and repair records
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, managers, and installation teams
- Maintain company vehicle and inventory
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Follow all safety standards, regulations, and best practices
- Attend training programs and pursue professional certifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing generators
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, transfer switches, control panels, and PLCs
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Safety-focused mindset and professional appearance
- Technical degree or certification in an electrical, mechanical, or related field
- Experience with diesel and natural gas generators
- Gas piping or fuel system experience a plus (not required)
