Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has a position open for a Sexual, Intimate Partner Violence, and Stalking Advocate to join the staff of Survivor Support Services in the Division of Student Affairs. General responsibilities include providing crisis intervention, safety planning, providing education/outreach to university community, serving on various university committees, case management services, develops monthly reports for supervisor, assistance survivors with obtaining accommodations for course work, along with supporting the student through university proceeding the survivor might go through.
The positions may require working some evening hours.
University Description VCU is a public, urban university with just under 28,000 students located on two campuses in the capital city of Richmond, VA. University Counseling Services has an APA-accredited pre-doctoral intern training program. The multidisciplinary staff of UCS includes full-time clinicians from the fields of psychology and social work.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field.
- 2 years of experience working as an advocate or related experience
- Experience working as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking or related experience
- Provide immediate, confidential crisis intervention and ongoing advocacy for student survivors. This includes emotional support, safety planning, and resource coordination.
- Partner with key campus stakeholders, including Student Conduct, Residence Life, Athletics, Counseling Services, and student organizations, to integrate prevention messages across the university environment.
- Contribute to annual reports, assessment activities, and strategic planning
- Assist students in navigating university processes (e.g., student conduct, academic accommodations) and external systems (e.g., legal/criminal justice system, medical care, housing).
- Develops, implements, and evaluates creative prevention education, evidence-informed outreach programming, and advocacy initiatives related to consent, bystander intervention, intimate partner violence (IPV), healthy relationships, stalking and sexual assault.
- Maintain secure, accurate, and confidential records of all student interactions and services provided, adhering to state/federal laws and ethical guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work or related field
- Public Health background
- Experience working specifically within a higher education setting.
- Knowledge of federal compliance related to Title IX and the Clery Act.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $68,000
