On-Call Emergency Shelter Support Staff
Position Summary:
Serves as part of a dynamic and compassionate team to provide trauma informed care to all participants. Provides direct supervision of emergency shelter and facilitates a safe environment by compassionately enforcing program guidelines and policies. Engages with participants in a person-centered, trauma informed manner. Supports in overseeing and facilitating daily shelter events and participant onsite appointments. Assists in the complete shift checklist of assigned duties during shift.
Engages interns and volunteers as needed. Encourages participants to engage in their housing plan. Applies de-escalation techniques when necessary and supports during crisis intervention. Uses Google Workspace to facilitate communication within the team. Is trained on Lead Staff job duties in case coverage is needed, including shift reports and documentation. Participates in staff meetings and trainings. Completes assigned mandatory trainings to increase skills and knowledge.
Serves as on call for shifts that need coverage.
- Punctual and reliable, with reliable transportation.
- Ability to know and follow job expectations related to shift worked, including able to professional blend with program participants and other shelter staff.
- Skilled in conflict resolution, de-escalation methods, and in trauma informed care.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Valid TB test within 2 weeks of being hired.
- Current CPR and Naloxone certification required within 1 month of being hired.
- Ability to lift 10lbs.
Status: This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Supervisor: Emergency Shelter Program Manager
Hours: 4pm-12am and 12am-8am
Hourly Rate: $18/hr
