Male Youth Mentor – Community-Based Services

Brief Job Description

The Youth Mentor will provide structured, community-based mentoring and support to assigned youth. Services will focus on developing positive decision-making skills, improving communication, building healthy relationships, increasing engagement in prosocial activities, and assisting youth with identifying and working toward personal, educational, and behavioral goals. The mentor will serve as a positive role model while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and communicating with the treatment team regarding the youth’s progress.

Henrico, Richmond, Petersburg, and Hopewell, Virginia

• Male mentor preferred based on the needs of the current youth referrals
• Experience working with adolescents or young adults preferred
• Experience with at-risk or justice-involved youth is strongly preferred
• Ability to establish appropriate professional relationships and serve as a positive role model
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
• Dependable transportation and willingness to travel throughout assigned service areas
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Ability to complete required documentation within established time frames
• Must successfully complete all required background checks and organizational onboarding requirements

The ideal candidate will be dependable, patient, engaging, and able to provide consistent support while helping youth develop the skills necessary to make healthier choices and successfully function within their homes and communities.
