Director, Software Engineering (Card Tech)

As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you'll be a technical leader focused on building the future of our enterprise systems. You'll drive the design, development, and implementation of solutions across the technology stack, from customer-facing web applications using cutting-edge open-source frameworks (like Angular

JS, React, Vue.js) to highly-available RESTful microservices and robust back-end systems. A key part of your role will involve leveraging Machine Learning models and the hottest techniques in GenAI to power applications, such as fully automated, agentic flows for document based customer servicing. You'll lead teams in building scalable, production-ready applications and systems, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring high availability and performance.

You should have solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies, including Python, Java, GO, node.js, REST, JSON, No

SQL databases (DB), relational databases (like Postgres), vector stores (like Milvus), Spark, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 7 years’ experience in software development
• At least 5 years’ experience in people management

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering
• 10+ years’ of experience in software development
• 5+ years’ of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location.

• McLean, VA: $269,100 - $307,200 for Director, Software Engineering
• Plano, TX: $244,700 - $279,200 for Director, Software Engineering
• Richmond, VA: $244,700 - $279,200 for Director, Software Engineering

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
